19 Feb Hot Club de Phnom Penh in Concert

Saturday Music Showcase
From 7:00 pm until 10:00 pm
On Saturday, 22 February, The Magic Sponge is extremely honored to present a very special concert on our stage, French manouche music performed by the trio "Hot Club de Phnom Penh". For those unfamiliar with the term "manouche", it is 1930's era dynamic gypsy jazz. With "Hot Club de Phnom Penh", members Sébastien Adnot, Noel McKay and Intan Andriana bring their latest iteration of their Jazz-Manouche project to Kampot. Violin and guitars romp through the rich catalog of music made popular by Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli. The energy of this music is expressed through lightning-fast tempos and dark chromatic scales. Specially-made 'Manouche' guitars evoke the uniquely resonant steel-string sound of Django. This is a unique opportunity to hear this wonderful music in our city. We hope you will make plans to attend and have dinner and drinks in our beautiful Jasmine Garden as well. The concert will start at 7:00 p.m.
